Notes:

Hand-tools woodworkers routinely “apologize” on online forums when they just had to resort to an electric-powered tool.

“it was too much wood to saw by hand” so they resorted to an electric circular saw. “It would have taken me all day to plane that”, so they used an electric planer. “I don't have the stamina/skills/tools to do that”.

We try to rationalize things in all sorts of ways, as if trying to excuse ourselves for not doing what would be the purest, most hard-core thing.

(My own rationalization is that I want to be able to build useful things when Peak Oil gets really bad and electricity becomes unavailable.)
