Notes:

Then, one day I built a play kitchen for my daughter.

My daughter has two neighbor friends, a pair of girls whose dad has a demanding job and can only spend a little time with them.

One day he saw the play kitchen I made. Months later, I found out that he had built a bookcase and a bench for his daughters. I helped him finish a table for them, too. Now he makes things like that for them all the time, and uses recycled wood pallets from the supermarket he works at.

I didn't even tell him to do that! So he's more in contact with his family, he's recycling wood that would otherwise go to waste, and he's acquiring valuable skills – and it's a lot of fun to hang around together, building things.
